The first field trail for Golden retrievers
only in Sweden

The Swedish Golden Retriever Club arranged a field trial for Golden Retrievers only on the weekend of July 20-22 in 2007. The trial was held in Dalecarlia, an area well known to tourists for its folklore, folkmusic and natural beauty.

The trial was run in 3 classes (beginners, open  and elite) as a cold game trial. A total of about 70 golden retrievers started and the winner of each class was proclaimed this years club champion. A big crowd watched the trial all day long in the beautiful weather.

In the beginners class the dogs got 2 markings in  water, one on land and 7 games hidden in a forest close to the water to search for.

The judge Tommy Lundin found 3 participants out of 30 that were worth a 1:st price. The winner and club champion was Agneta Fondén with Gyllene Horden's Zimson.

Elite class was run in a wetland with dummies only. There the dogs had to work over large areas of  water, grassland and marsch. They first had to remember 3 dummies that fell in water, one that they had not seed and finally search for 8 dummies in a wide area. The dogs worked 2 at a time. The judge Lasse Johnsson also awarded 5 participants out of 20 with 1:st price. The winner and club champion was Susanne Isaksson and Stensvärdsjö Meja.

The open class was run as a hunt close to water, where 2 dogs at a time followed the hunter. He first "shot" 2 birds, that fell i  water and 2 that fell on land and the dogs picked them up. Then the group continued along the water and the same thing happened again. After that the dogs had to find 7 birds that was hidden both in water and om land. Finally the dogs  were directed to one bird on land and one in the water each.

The judge Sune Nilsson awarded 5 of the participants out of 20 with 1:st prices. The winner and club champion was Yngve Isaksson and Stensvärdsjö Raiza.

The price ceremony, which  was held in a typical Dalecarlian style with officials and musicians in local dresses, a big price table from sponsors and a lot of spectators.

The whole field trial was a big success and everybody considered, that is was a great advantage for the breed to see so many Golden Retrievers at work at the same time.
